Ever Wonder...

Have you ever wondered what it means to be a Christian?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.  This world will tell you there are “many ways”, or that “Jesus might be the way for you, but not for me.”  The reality is that they are wrong.  In the Bible, the book of Romans, chapter 3, verse 23, or Romans 3:23, tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  A perfect God cannot have sin in heaven and all of us have sinned.  Sounds pretty desperate...

It gets worse.

Romans 6:23 exclaims that
“the wages of sin is death,....”  It cannot get any worse than that.  Except when you realize that this is not just talking about physical death, but spiritual death, which is a very real place called hell.  Thankfully, Romans 6:23 doesn’t end there.  The full verse says this: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  That gift is a free gift from God.  You can do nothing to earn it.  You can do nothing to talk your way into it.  The gift from God offers you eternal life, and what Christians would tell you, is the best life possible.

Jesus will come into your life, if and only if you ask Him.

The Bible in Romans puts it this way (Romans 5:8)
“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”  Jesus Christ offers that free gift because He hung and died on a cross as the propitiation or atoning sacrifice for our sin.  Jesus did for us what only He could do as the Son of God, and took all the sins of the world upon Himself, so that if we will just ask God for forgiveness, He will remove all our sin.

So how do you do it?  How would you ask to be forgiven?

Look at Romans 10:9
“if you confess with you mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  You see, Jesus did not just die, but He rose from the grave 3 days later and that is the Christian celebration of Easter.

Jesus is not dead,
HE IS ALIVE.

Those who believe in Jesus and trust Him with their lives do not serve a dead God, but rather one that is
Alive and Well.  Romans 12:1-2 teaches that once your life has been given over to Christ, once you have been forgiven, you should “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing and perfect will of God.”
